What did you think about these two games? If Blood Omen 2 sucks tell me what failed about this game, and also tell me a bit more about the gameplay.

Blood Omen 2 or Soul Reaver 2? |
Lead | |
|
I have recently purchased a PS2, and I would like to know wich of these two games should I buy. Personnally I like being Kain then being Raziel, I like feeding on someone's blood rather then feeding on there soul. So the most logical thing would be to buy Blood Omen 2, but some people said the game kinda sucked. So im kinda leaning for Soul Reaver 2.

Or better yet... BUY THEM BOTH!!!!!!
Hell, it'll only take twice as long to save the cash, and by then you'll be able to get them faaaar cheaper anyway. SR2 is now less than 10 ($15) in most large stores, can't be too long before BO2 joinds it. |

Blood Omen 2 didnt suck, it just didnt have as deep a story line as SR2, to me its a good game, fun to play, especially the way he uses his weapons

They're both really good games. SR2 is more story and puzzle oriented, whereas BO2 is more action. I would buy both.

I think SR2 would be the cheaper as it came out first. Get them used - that will bring the price down even more.

My vote is for SR2. The storyline is much deeper. SR2 ties together more of the other games in the series more than BO2 does. If you're a big fan of the story line, then SR2 is the way to go.
Also the voice over scripts in SR2 are much more compelling and interesting than BO2 (actually in my opinion than any other in the entire series). Just my 2 though... |

Ad Sanctum,
Soul Reaver 2 for sure. Personally I think Blood Omen 2 is an insult to the LoK-addicts/fans. It's got a slow and uninteresting story compared to SR1+2 and BO1. But especially the game itself is worth nothing. Soul Reaver which has an older engine is still much smoother and faster to play. It's got a marvelous and impressive view at every corner, which makes Nosgoth absolutely my favorite game-world. It's got much more beautiful enemies and I think the ways of killing are more interesting, but that's just taste for it's just very cool in both. But especially when you leave Soul Reaver out, look at what kind of games they are capable of making these days! Look at Warcraft 3 for example; smooth, grand and quality is radiating from it in every view. Or games like UT2003 and Halo, it may seem a strange game to compare it with, but still. I think BO2 is just plain boring to look at and much more boring to play. It entirely misses the grand story and the Nosgoth-feeling. I wish I'd never bought it. If I were you I'd buy SR2 and read the summary of BO2 somewhere.
May the Light illuminate thy path

Granted BO2 was more of a filler game, it shouldn't be overlooked. I think they made it that way for a reason; to build the base for BO3. And, yes, they could have done so much better, but at least it answered one question from SR2.... then raised a dozen more... :/
But I would strongly recommend getting SR2, then mabe have a friend tell you about BO2. I agree with Nikai that it is an insult to the LOK series, but despite the problems with it, I was still glad I bought it.... sort of.... well, I just hope the next games will give it purpose in the series. |

Ack why do you insult BO2 so much, it was a great game, and i saw it more as introducing the Hylden to the series, after all they had to be brought in someway, there was only one major flaw, but im sure in the next game they will make up for that with a good enough explanation, they wouldnt want to disapoint the fans further!

The thing i didnt like about BO2 was the voice acting. They got the mouth movements wrong and at the end when i was gonna fight the SL it cut off half of the scene! But it was a good game-the reason i bought SR2-.

You must have a crappy system then, as it went smoothly on my PC, no cut outs, no glitches, no loading times, and all voices went in harmany with mouth movements, you shouldnt say a game is crap when really its just what your playing it on is crap!

Well if you call a PS2 crap then i guess i did play it on crap, but i got the same buggy delayed sound, evry cut sceen was like a badly dubed anime (and its not even translated no less.)
Anyway BO2 was not all that bad if count it as an action/adventure type instead of the "much-better-for-the-series" puzzle/storytelling type. |

Honestly, I think BO2 will look very, very contrived unless you play SR2 first. Even having played all three games before BO2, it still has a lot of plot holes so don't expect another Blood Omen 1 or even another SR2.
Not to mention the fact that the game still has quite a few technical problems and the ending was totally shattered by the terrible timing. It was a painful let down. Still, the combat system is quite fun and I myself can never get enough Kain monologues (even though BO2 could have used quite a bit more, damn that creative team) and the game has a fabulously creepy atmosphere. I just wish they would tie up the many loose, fraying, and fragmenting ends that they have left us with. |

SR2, by far. I've had BO2 lock up on me. SR2 is as smooth as silk, and oh, so fun to look at. In fact, I play it just to look at the scenery at times. Next best thing to being there.
Superior storyline, superior playability, more character credibility and you won't automatically die when you fight the first boss without cheating. Again and again and again. Yep, SR2, IN MY BOOK, wins, hands down. |
