Long time no see Realmers! So I was playing BO2 last night (Since that is the kind of thing I do on Saturday night) and I started thinking about Meridian and it's timeline. So the first time (timeline wise) we see Meridian is in Kain's map sometime between the time he amassed a vampire army and the point in which the Hylden Lord beat him in combat and claimed the soul reaver. I think the opening FMV states that this is 200 years after the pillars fell, which would be 200 years after the Hylden Lord escaped the demon dimension. We know that the device/mass and the eternal prison predate the pillars collapse. But, what about the rest of Meridian? It occured to me that I always believed that the walls, the keep, and the various machines in the city existed from the Ancient/Hylden war. But what if that isn't correct? The Hylden had planned to spread glyph boxes out throughout all of the city and use the mass to kill everyone in it who wasn't Hylden using the Mass. What if: Meridian didn't exist prior to the destruction of the Pillars? What if the Sarafan Keep, the walls, and everything that existed within was constructed by the glyphwrites and a human workforce on top of the device in the 200 years between the fall of the Pillars, and Kain's first attack on the city? The first human that speaks to Kainwhen he wakes up in the slums states that the Sarafan provide heat and light throughout Meridian, even to the slums near the sea coast. The way he says it seems to indicate that the commodities were new to him, and he had never had them before, as though they had just been installed in that area. Perhaps the size of Meridian was still growing. The slave humans Kain meets at the Hylden City (island) were a sizable workforce who had little knowledge of the rest of Nosgoth beyond the city. Were these people who had been there since the ancient/hylden war? Also: if Kain was marauding around Northern Nosgoth for 200 years after the Pillars fell, especially if he had an army for a portion of it, maybe there was a mass exodus of people flocking from Northern Nosgoth to the South, right into the arms of the Sarafan Lord. What do you think? My LOK memory isn't what it used to be, is there anything that disproves this?
